Popularisation of Ocean Sciences to School Children

Venue: INCOIS Auditorium, Ground Floor (Main Building)
Date: 05 November 2025, INCOIS, Hyderabad

Convener: Dr. Sivaiah Borra, INCOIS
Co-Convener: K Venkateswara Rao

The ocean covers more than 70% of our planet and plays a vital role in regulating climate, supporting biodiversity, and sustaining human life. Introducing school children to ocean sciences helps cultivate curiosity, environmental awareness, and a sense of responsibility towards marine ecosystems. By simplifying complex concepts; like tides, marine food chains, pollution, and climate change, students can grasp how oceans influence daily life. Early exposure to ocean literacy not only inspires future scientists but also encourages sustainable practices, creating a generation that values and protects our blue planet.
